18:45 Crafting Impact — Making Climate Change Felt Through VFX | Redivider Studio

In celebration of Earth Day, creative studio Redivider takes audiences from the prehistoric to the modern day, showing how storytelling and visual effects can turn abstract environmental issues into tangible, emotional experiences, and, in doing so, inspire change. The presentation will showcase two standout projects: Woolmark – Wear Wool, Not Waste, which transforms the environmental impact of synthetic clothing into bold, cinematic visuals, and Redivider’s recent CGI Greenpeace film for the Winter Olympics, making global climate challenges visible and felt. It will also highlight Redivider’s lean, agile approach: small, close-knit teams collaborating directly with tool builders and custom pipelines, ensuring technology serves the creative process, not the other way around. Attendees will gain insight into how narrative, craft, and innovation combine to create work that drives impact.

Framestore Speakers

Redivider Studio Speakers

  • Dieuwer Feldbrugge is a Dutch visual effects artist and the co-founder and head of technology at Redivider Creative Studio. With over fifteen years of experience in VFX, he spent nine of those years at The Panics in Amsterdam as FX Lead and Senior VFX Generalist, working on a wide range of commercials and short films while also being responsible for pipeline and production infrastructure. His work ranged from high-end VFX and detailed FX simulations to compositing, initially using 3ds Max and Maya, but now primarily using Houdini and Nuke. After The Panics, he went freelance and worked as a Senior Freelance FX Artist for studios including Framestore, The Mill, MPC, Ambassadors, Nexus and E.T.C, working on both commercials and TV shows including Black Mirror and One Piece.

At Redivider, he continues to bridge hands-on artistry with technical infrastructure, building pipelines and workflows for a small team of artists working across platforms, while also chipping in on the creative side as much as possible.

  • Matthijs Joor is a Director and VFX Supervisor from Amsterdam with a deep background in both commercials and film. Over the years, he has led teams for brands like Adidas, Asics and Toyota, and served as VFX and Compositing Supervisor for Richard Linklater’s feature film Apollo 10 ½. He recently finished supervising the 6-part series The Kollective for Submarine.

He is a co-founder of Redivider, a new creative studio that focuses on merging visual art with meaning. Through projects for clients like Woolmark and Greenpeace, Matthijs and his team use VFX to turn environmental messages into something cinematic and tangible. As a studio, they aim to bridge the gap between commercial projects that do good in the world and the creation of beautiful, story-driven feature films.

  • Tim Smit graduated as a physicist but quickly found his true passion in the world of visual effects and filmmaking. His breakthrough came in 2009 when his short What’s in the Box? (2009), a low-budget sci-fi action film told from a first-person perspective  gained international acclaim for its innovative visuals and narrative

The years that followed inspired Tim to craft his first feature film based on the short. He took a deep dive into the world of visual storytelling, by working on a range of projects as a director and visual effects artist. Each project distinguishes itself due to Tim’s visual language and fast past editing style seen on various music videos (Within Temptation: The Unforgiving, Daybroke – Hey Girl, Daybroke – Sabotage). He also successfully directed VFX for numerous feature film projects (Last Passenger (2011, The Machine (2024)).

He completed his first directed feature film debut Kill Switch (2017) (also known as Redivider), a high-concept, action-driven sci-fi adaptation of his original short What’s in the Box? The movie got international acclaim for its use of visual and unique camera work.

Succeeding his film, Tim has directed VFX for award winning commercials such as Woolmark: Wear wool not fuel and Woolmark: Wear wool not waste. He directed the short Airborne (2021) as a proof of concept for a brand new feature film concept, tailored to his abilities and visual narrative. He recently finished second unit directing on the new Hulu series: The Kollective (2025) and following that he founded a new creative studio, Redivider. Redivider’s vision is to be a resilient creative studio where visual effects embraces old and new technology for storytelling craft, creating immersive worlds that spark wonder while keeping a strong human core. Among other things, he is  currently working on his new short film film project ‘Axis Mundi’.

  • Gavin began his career as a Digital Playback Technician, where he was first exposed to the world of visual effects. After retraining as a

Compositor, he joined Framestore in 2012. Since being at Framestore, he has worked on a wide variety of projects,

from Gravity, Wonder Woman 1984 and Paddington to Iron Man 3, and Thor: Ragnarok. He served as on-set Supervisor for the final season of His Dark Materials, where he collaborated closely with production VFX Supervisor Russell Dodgson and the show’s directorial talent. Gavin’s outstanding skills landed him a VES nomination for Thor: Ragnarok, which he credits as one of his proudest achievements. More recently, he lent his talents to IF, a family-friendly feature with a cast of animated imaginary friends, directed by John Krasinski, as well as working on two upcoming releases for Apple and Netflix.
