Throughout the conference, we will showcase the top-selected shorts from the Fast Forward event on a dedicated TV screen. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite films during the conference.

CAVE Academy - Workshop

This year, CAVE Academy and RADiCAL will be running a joint workshop in which they’ll be going from onset to real-time render to replicate a section of the historic Barbican Centre.

During the morning, they’ll be capturing onset data, including geometry, texture, material and lighting reference. Following on from this, in the afternoon they’ll be processing the data to generate photoscans, textures and HDRIs to then rebuild part of the Barbican in glorious 3D.

Following on from this, in the afternoon they’ll be processing the data to generate photoscans, textures and HDRIs to then rebuild part of the Barbican into a 3D scene using RADiCAL.

Along the way, they’ll discuss the importance of observation, gathering notes, photography, using calibration props and colour charts, PBR shaders, and how to go about capturing your own data for VFX and real-time previsualisation using readily available kit.

REALTIME was challenged to create a cutting-edge virtual production workflow using Unreal Engine for Doctor Who: Wild Blue Yonder, one of the three special episodes commemorating the show's 60th anniversary.

With the return of the much-loved David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna, the Tardis takes the Doctor and Donna to the further edge of adventure. To escape, they must face the most desperate fight of their lives, with the fate of the universe at stake.

'From science to cinema' - bringing scientific datasets to high end VFX.

How Lux Aeterna interpreted the latest scientific datasets and leading academic research to create cinematic sequences for Netflix's latest feature documentary hit 'Secrets of the Neanderthals'. We will explore how we used VFX for 'Our Universe' and understand how Lux Aeterna brought to life the formation of the cosmos and the birth of our moon for the groundbreaking series. To finish we will discuss how these visions can bring to life stories for both documentary and drama with our work for ‘8 Days: To the Moon and Back’ and the Netflix hit show ‘The Crown’.
